A fraction represents a part of a whole or, more generally, any number of equal parts. In everyday English, a fraction describes how many parts of a certain size exist-for example, one-half, eight-fifths, or three-quarters. A common (or vulgar) fraction (e.g., 1/2 or 13/7) consists of a numerator shown above a line (or before a slash, like 1⁄2), and a non-zero denominator displayed below (or after) that line. Numerators and denominators are also used in more complex forms such as compound fractions, complex fractions, and mixed numerals.
The Fraction Calculator / Mixed Numbers Calculator (also referred to as Mixed Fractions) performs basic operations on mixed numbers, proper fractions, and improper fractions-adding, subtracting, multiplying, or dividing. Answers are shown as reduced fractions and, when applicable, as mixed numbers.
This app is useful for math teachers, educators, or anyone preparing math materials for instruction. It's also ideal for students who want a deeper understanding of how to perform fraction operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
